The California Breakthrough Project brings together an influential group of innovators and executives, convened by Governor Newsom to foster a dialogue between state decision-makers and the tech community.
The inaugural meeting reportedly took place on June 6 at Ripple’s headquarters in San Francisco and included leaders from diverse sectors, including AME Cloud Ventures, Anduril, Instacart, Scopely, and Snap Inc.
Notable figures such as Asheesh Birla, Ron Conway, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, Jeff Lawson, Jen Pahlka, and Jason Wheeler also joined the group, underscoring the project’s ambitious scope.
The group will also focus on maintaining public transparency and ethical safeguards throughout the innovation process, ensuring that the interests of labor and civil society are considered.
Earlier this year, he co-hosted a Generative AI summit that gathered leaders from academia, industry, and civil society to discuss the transformative potential of AI technologies for the state.
The Golden State continues to lead in efficiency, strategically implementing technologies and practices that make Californians’ lives better. As the birthplace of modern tech, our state is uniquely positioned to bring the best and the brightest together to advance our work. We will not shy away from progress, but embrace it for the benefit of all Californians, including our state workforce.
The task force will collaborate closely with leaders and front-line employees from various state agencies to identify opportunities for streamlining and improving government operations.
Despite the governor’s announcement, Ripple, Coinbase, and Moonpay have not issued any official statements clarifying their respective roles in this new project for the Golden State.
As of this writing, the broader cryptocurrency market is experiencing a notable correction following the House of Representatives’ failure to pass crucial crypto legislation.
Consequently, Ripple’s XRP token dropped toward the $2.90 level after briefly surpassing the $3 mark during Monday’s market rally.
