Ethereum’s highly anticipated Pectra upgrade is scheduled for deployment on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets in 2025.
Ethereum’s “Pectra” upgrade marks a pivotal moment in its evolution, with its deployment on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets set for February and March 2025. This upgrade aims to enhance Ethereum’s scalability, security, and performance. The Holesky testnet, which is planned to go live on February 24, 2025, is expected to serve as an initial proving ground for the update, with engineers and testers monitoring and addressing any potential concerns. Following Holesky, the Sepolia testnet will receive an upgrade on March 5, 2025. If successful, Ethereum’s core developers want to implement the upgrade on the Ethereum mainnet by April 2025, which will improve the blockchain’s performance for decentralised apps (dApps), smart contracts, and other blockchain-based services.

Tim Beiko, Ethereum’s core developer, said that this upgrade marks a significant milestone for the Ethereum network, particularly following the Ethereum Merge.
