Metaco, the cryptocurrency custody firm acquired by Ripple in May 2023, has witnessed a significant leadership shake-up as its CEO and Chief Product Officer have departed from the company.
The departure of CEO Adrien Treccani and Chief Product Officer Peter DeMeo has been confirmed by a Ripple spokesperson. In a statement, the spokesperson expressed appreciation for the contributions of Treccani and his team, acknowledging the industry-leading custody business they had built. The spokesperson also emphasized the importance of custody solutions within Ripple’s expanding business landscape, underlining the company’s commitment to delivering top-notch enterprise crypto solutions worldwide.
Before its acquisition by Ripple, Metaco had established itself as a preferred partner for European banks seeking assistance with digital asset custody. Notably, Metaco had recently onboarded HSBC as a client. However, reports suggest that following the acquisition by Ripple, some banks have been re-evaluating their relationships with Metaco.
The departure of Metaco’s CEO and Head of Product comes at a crucial juncture for the firm, as it navigates its integration into Ripple and seeks to maintain its position as a trusted provider of cryptocurrency custody solutions in the evolving financial landscape.
