World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee says crypto is ‘really dangerous’ but could be useful for remittances
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist who is said to be the founder of the World Wide Web, certainly shared his thoughts about cryptocurrencies during an interview on the “Beyond the Valley” podcast last week and Let’s talk. The British computer scientist viewed cryptocurrency with a decidedly critical attitude, calling it “dangerous” and comparing it to gambling. He claimed that 100% of the cryptocurrency could be a speculation and is not tied to anything. This is just a guess and obviously it’s really dangerous.
They insist that if you need to break out of the cryptocurrency trap and want to “get out of the gamble”, that’s basically it. He also compared cryptocurrencies to the dot-com bubble, noting that different people were valuing Internet giants “because of what they imagined they would value in the future, and in other words, was not based on revenue or reality”. He stressed that investing in certain things exclusively is a speculation, that’s not where I want to spend my time. Apart from this, computer scientists also say that crypto currency can be useful for asset transmission and after using it, it seems to be a useful thing if you transfer the goods to the blockchain because you can get it from your family immediately. The British computer scientist insists that “don’t just keep the currency. Get rid of it and put it back in USD.”
